At the time the accessory package was only $4 more than the camera alone. The order was shipped UPS and I received it five days later. Great service.
I have been doing test videos and testing the rest of the accessories since then. The main reason I bought the HF S21, instead of the other lower priced versions, is the EVF. It really works well. Most of my video is outdoors and the LCD screen is all but useless in bright sun. I also find it is easier for me to track moving objects with the EVF. It also seems more stable and helps to cut down on camera shake when using the EVF.
The camcorder takes excellent HD video. The video color is great. Nearly all of my video will be shot using the Auto mode as I primarily take video of wild animals, mustangs, horses, and moving ATVs, dirt bikes, ect. So far it has worked perfectly. The IS is also very good.
The accessory package included 2 BP-819 Zeikos batteries and a battery charger. I did a separate review on them, but they worked very well.
There was a Zeikos 8GB Class 10 SDHC card in the package also. I read some reviews on the S21 that indicated there was a problem getting SD cards to work in it. Not this card. After "Initializing" the card it worked perfectly with video and photographs.
I tested the 2X lens with the package and it will be of very limited use for me. It almost has to be used with manual focus and has to be used with a tripod. A light weight tripod is included in the package.
Cons: The manual with the camcorder is the size of a paperback book. It has instructions in three languages and makes it a pain to deal with. This could be improved. The manual is on the web and that is what I use.
Except for the printed Users Manual, everything about this camcorder is excellent. I am ordinarily not a fan of accessory packages, but this one is well thought out and should be evaluated by how you will use the camcorder.
4-19-11: After further testing of the 2X telephoto lens included in the accessory package, I've concluded it is useless. I tested it while using a tripod, according to instructions, and with manual focus in different lighting with different subjects. All the video was cloudy and useless. I still rate the camera and most of the accessories five stars due to the value of the batteries and charger vs. the cost of the package.
